Kanna & Kagura Online Classes/Research Lab Series (May-July)
Rope Practices for Every Body Series
This workshop/research lab series by Kanna & Kagura aims to work towards diversifying Kinbaku/Shibari/rope and making it more accessible to all bodies, sizes, shapes, ethnicities, ages, and genders in a positive, empowering way.
This new series is based on your requests! It is not a pre-designed workshop/class where there is a base pattern and the main focus is on teaching it, and then checking, correcting, and suggesting to each person, to find the correct answer that already exists.
This series is a laboratory in which you will experience the process and thinking that goes into an answer that you pose. Together with Kanna & Kagura, you will explore a way to find an answer to your specific question and/or needs.
❤ Part 1: Restriction with furniture (May 22nd, 2021, 2 pm CET)
Instead of the hashira work that is not accessible for everyone, we’ll show various possibilities for restriction with chairs and other furniture.
❤ Part 2: Restriction with bamboo (May 29th, 2021, 2 pm CET)
In this lab, we will NOT use bamboo as a hard point/suspension point (like parallel bamboo, vertically suspended floating bamboo), but we will bind the body to the bamboo.
If possible, please prepare a THIN bamboo. If you don’t have bamboo, you can use a curtain pole, a wooden stick, or a mop handle.
❤ Part 3: Exposure for Play (June 5th, 2021, 2 pm CET)
For humiliation, play, se+ual acts, and se+y poses let’s do Shibari where the partner is restricted in an embarrassing/shameful position (with the secret places in full view).
This class will include floorwork predicament and partial suspension.
❤ Part 4: “Supporture” (June 19th, 2021, 2 pm CET)
Supporture = torture along with compassionate support. Let’s do some Shibari that can be both tormenting and supportive?!
The term supporture was created by the participants during the second series, and can include many things such as hip harnesses, crotch rope, a hair tie, or foot/toe bindings!
❤ Part 5: “Approaches to Tying Larger Bodies” (June 26th, 2021, 2 pm CET)
As mentioned in the first and second series, there are many different approaches to similar shapes and positions for people with larger bodies.
In this class, let’s do Shibari with less burden and more ropes so that any person can enjoy the same system of torture and suspension!
Prior study of Hojo TK of Semenawa class in the first series (or predicament class in the second series) is recommended.
❤ Part 6: “Asymmetry for Different Physical Limitations” (July 3rd, 2021, 2 pm CET)
In general, the main patterns of Kinbaku are symmetrical shibari, but you can also enjoy asymmetrical shibari even if your partner has shoulder pain, lack of flexibility, shoulder/arm muscles tightness, or left-right differences! Together we’ll adjust ties to different physical handicaps.
