Die Direktorin der US-Nationalbibliothek Library of Congress, Carla Hayden, in Washington teilte mit das unter den 25 Neuaufnahmen auch der Muppets-Song «The Rainbow Connection» ist.
Das Lied wurde 1979 veröffentlich und wurde in die Liste aufgenommen weil es kulturell besonders bedeutend ist.
«Es ist ein wunderbares Gefühl, offiziell Teil der Geschichte unserer Nation zu werden», wurde Kermit zitiert.
«Das ist eine große Ehre. Und ich bin begeistert - ich bin begeistert! - dass ich der erste Frosch auf der Liste bin!»
