It's basically a book that talks about the author's own experience with polyamory and has vignettes/stories of other women. It feels decidedly American in experience and perspective, though I'd be interested in what a German thinks about it. Most of the book goes through the discovery process of being poly, explaining it to family, and describes some specific relationships, though I found it hard to extrapolate anything more general than "it's ok if that's what you want, touch base with your partner often, and schedule."
If you're choosing the first book to read on this, it should ABSOLUTELY BE The Ethical Slut, which lays out both a historical element AND a moral/ethical empistemology for the Whys of non-monogamy in a way that is decidedly more impactful and general than Dede's book (which I read first, and got much less out of).
If you've already read The Ethical Slut and are looking for affirming experiences from younger people (not hippie SF lesbians from the 70s/80s), Dede's book is a fine addition.
