Let's talk briefly about politeness:
Polite is to read the dress code & dress up like that, because then the wonderful girls at the door don't need to discuss anything.
If there has been trouble! There is only one reason.
You ignored the dress code.
It was really nice from the girls, that they gave you the chance to take out the Shirt.
The other possibility would have been: "Thank you, but No, thank you" at the Door.
Once again. It's their fucking job to check the Outfits & they do it well! Thank you for that.
