Being part of a ...
... Burning Man camp for three years and having the luck of joining a kind of kinky family over there in the US we appreciate the possibility to train our Denglish also here. I've the idea that the sentence before misses some grammar. If it bothers you, just correct it.

Finally I do not have to write in bad German!
Howdy, I am from Texas. I moved here, Hannover, with my Wife whom I met in Hawai'i. I love it here and thoroughly enjoy the kinky side of Germany. So are the other expats here for work or love?

We have always been here, just hidden because we were forced, not to be able to write anything, in our own mother language. After several years of patches and updates, we can now be allowed to speak freely here among the masses.......

@ SnuSnuMaster

I am retired form the military and decided to stay, being from NYC, I have had my ups and downs through the years, but JC had open my eyes to many new thing and most of all, it allowed me to be able to come in contact with some bad and some good people.
Some are just my acquaintances or associates, while others have become friends and began to bond a great relationship with me, with and without sex being the main factor.

English Speakers Unite!
I came here for love. We had lived for 5 years in the States and A change sounded good to me. I come from a rather redneck family and am happy to be free of the past. And far away from them. My wife also wanted to do social work and America is not so keen on such things. So we came here. I have managed bars and restaurants for most of my adult life, but I am enjoying managing a kitchen here.
My personal development has also been greatly helped by the contacts through Joy. I even make crops and floggers in a shabari aesthetic for my fellow kinksters.

In other news, I have been granted permission for the first English speaker group here on Joy. A whole group for the verboten Sprache. I will be putting it together in the next couple days. Look for it if you are interested.
@FreeSpirited:
Feel free to post a link to the group once you have it all set up *zwinker*

I came across this accidentally - I’m a native English speaker and my German is horrible (but my wife’s German so keeps me straight). Great to be here!,

I was off being a Viking.
Hi, I just returned from my "Vacation". If cooking for 18 people 3 meals a day on a fire and a wood oven counts as a vacation.
If you are interested in the English Group, please apply. If you can write in English, you are in. Start a conversation or ask a question. Do something silly. I just want to create a space where we can be ourselves in our own language and join with other non-native speakers.

I’m really having fun reading everyone’s experience and post. I’m trying my best to learn but it can be difficult at my age. Although I’m an native English speaker, my mother tonque isn’t English. Having a German wife of over 25 yrs also spoils me. She’s lived everywhere with me in the US and all my jobs in Germany/worldwide has been in English. I’m determined to learn but I’m afraid I’ll never get past that elementary level unlike Spanish, Turkish and a few other languages I’ve learned when I lived there. So cool to have this - sexy erotic thoughts for all!!!!

She's from the Dallas Metroplex area, not the most scenic area, but the shopping is marvelous and a bit more spacious than New York *zwinker*

It is so funny.. I was almost in Frankfurt on Monday.

Send me a PN... it would be fun to connect.
Well here is a German born, but Louisiana raised Southern Bell or country tomboy, who is back in Germany since over 20 years. it's all a matter of practice, when learning or adapting to something new. *zwinker*

This thread got very quiet in 2019. Maybe in 2020, we can get it going again.
I'll be the first to bump it in 2020 *zwinker* . That said, it is great to see a thread in my mother language. I was stationed here from 90 until 04, ETS'd, went stateside and came back in late 2018. Now I am completely under the German system and I find the language the hardest thing I have ever had to learn in my life. I understand way more that I speak and that's not saying much. And its crazy how times of changed.. When I was stationed here almost every German I met spoke decent English. Now that all the Kaserns have shut down and the Americans moved along, it seems like nobody speaks English (or wants to).

Well, Hello to the "new" neighbour. I pretty much understand, what you're saying. There's no more need to know and speak american round here, since there are no more Americans.
I feel sorry for that for several reasons
• I start forgetting vocabulary
• my (half-american) kids don't have a reason to learn their fathers language (besides that british english they get taught in school)
• I miss speaking it

Hello:

Sorry that I have been out of the net and out of reach for some timeframe, but with my job with the US Army as Logistics Manager, it can be very hard to get a chance or opportunity, to get online here and keep up with eveeything that goes on. With my office always moving from place to place, plus all the security barriers and hurdles that I always have to deal with, I just want to let you all know that our language is not dead or forgotten, it stills lives but is dormant within the people of today.
Whenever I am back in Germany, wherever I go and they realize that I am an original "NYC- born man", out comes the english because they then all of the sudden want to practice and use what they have learned, so that they will not forget themselves.

@*********allow

You are befriended with me here and you could have, at any timeframe contacted me and we could speak all the english that you wanted, the offer is still on the table and even with your children, I would build a small english relationship just to help them not to forget that they have a prt within that they have not even explored yet, which in the world today will better their futures and tomorrows.

@******020

I help closed down the Bamberg and Schwienfurt Karsernes, I can also help out since I have been throughout Germany since 1985, old beer drinkers always knew and know that a heart is always safest and best well feed at its home, which here is the home of beer so I need not say more. I happen to live in Wiesbaden, so being in the Rhein-Main area the people use the english language just a little more due to some of their jobs and everyday activities.
You're right Suck, there really isn't a need for the language in our area anymore. And Like Mund said, his area has a bit more need for it. I have also noticed there are more English speakers in Bamberg and Berlin where tourism is a big hit.

Have either of you noticed how the "respect" for Americans, (for lack of a better word), has kinda went to shit in the last 20 years? Our culture has become the butt of a joke because of our political system. For every German I speak to, the just cannot fathom how someone like Trump got elected President. I can't either for that matter. *lol* I am embarrassed about it to be totally honest. Many of my German friends and coworkers try and strike up a political conversations with me and I just avoid the fact as best I can. I really have no interest in the subject anyway. I just play it off with a joke of sorts asking them "Why do you think I am in Germany?"
